Fixed Braces
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces are more effective at treating extreme cases of malocclusion ("bad bite") than other options, and are less expensive. It moves the teeth in small increments at a time to correct misaligned teeth using brackets and metal wires.
Since abnormal bites usually become noticeable at an early age, treatment that begins while a child is growing helps produce optimal results, but it doesn't mean a child will get braces right away. It just means that problems will be detected earlier and from there we can decide the best time for your child to start treatment. Adults can have braces too! As long as the teeth and oral health are good.
Treatment plans will vary, but for most people the average time to wearing braces is two years. This is followed by a period of wearing a retainer that holds teeth in their new positions. Retainers keep the teeth from wandering back to their original places.
